The Cowboys are eight-point favorites at home, the total's 47 and a half, and Baker Mayfield's out, so Jalon Daniels makes his second NFL start. I played it 10,000 times. Dallas won 77% and won by 10 or more in 45%.
That's the chalk's script, the lineups most people play, and the chalk knows it. Half the field has four or five Cowboys behind a Cowboys captain, and that lineup only pays if the blowout shows up.
One thing paid no matter what happened: both quarterbacks. Pick how the game goes, then build for it.
One lineup in five is built this way. When Dallas rolls, one of them takes first about a third of the time.
Only 4% of lineups are built this way. When the Bucs win a shootout, one of them takes first 13% of the time.
| SCRIPT | ODDS | THE BUILD | CAPTAIN | QBS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cowboys by 10+ | 45% | 1 TB / 5 DAL, Cowboys captain +33% | Dak Prescott +19% | both QBs +4% |
| Cowboys close, under 47.5 | 15% | 2 TB / 4 DAL, Buccaneers captain +5% | Bucky Irving +24% | both QBs +5% |
| Cowboys close, over 47.5 | 17% | 2 TB / 4 DAL, Buccaneers captain +11% | Jalon Daniels +33% | both QBs +33% |
| Buccaneers close, under 47.5 | 9% | 4 TB / 2 DAL, Buccaneers captain +70% | Jalon Daniels +74% | both QBs +15% |
| Buccaneers close, over 47.5 | 9% | 4 TB / 2 DAL, Buccaneers captain +81% | Jalon Daniels +113% | both QBs +39% |
| Buccaneers by 10+ | 5% | 4 TB / 2 DAL, Buccaneers captain +186% | Jalon Daniels +189% | both QBs +30% |
Bucs-captain builds take first a little more often than they're built, the Cowboys chalk a little less. The shape alone doesn't buy first place.

The best captain anybody really plays isn't in the top five. Jalon Daniels sits seventh at 5%, and he pays +15% over all the sims.
| CAPTAIN | AT CAPTAIN | IN THE FLEX | ROI AT CAPTAIN |
|---|---|---|---|
| Javonte Williams RB · DAL | 21% | 34% | −10% |
| CeeDee Lamb WR · DAL | 16% | 40% | −13% |
| Dak Prescott QB · DAL | 15% | 60% | +2% |
| Cade Otton TE · TB | 9% | 51% | −38% |
| George Pickens WR · DAL | 9% | 32% | −6% |
The Cowboys run away with it, and this is the only night the chalk pays. One Buc and five Cowboys behind a Cowboys captain pays +33%. Dak Prescott is the best captain, and Ryan Flournoy and George Pickens pay too. Javonte Williams and CeeDee Lamb lose even here.
Dallas wins a low-scoring game by single digits, and nothing pays much. Two Bucs and four Cowboys behind a Bucs captain is the best build at +5%. Three and three with a Cowboys captain about breaks even. Bucky Irving is the captain at +24%. Add a defense, play both quarterbacks, skip the kicker.
Dallas wins a shootout by single digits, and the balanced builds pay. Three and three, or two Bucs and four Cowboys behind a Bucs captain, both about +10%. Daniels is the best captain and Dak pays too. Both quarterbacks pay +33% here. No kicker, no defense.
The Bucs win an ugly one. Four Bucs and two Cowboys with a Bucs captain pays +70%, and the same build behind a Cowboys captain pays too. Daniels and Irving are the captains. A defense pays again, and the one-Buc, five-Cowboys chalk loses 62%.
The shootout Tampa wins. Four Bucs and two Cowboys with a Bucs captain pays +81%, and three and three works too. Daniels at captain more than doubles your money, and Emeka Egbuka pays. Both quarterbacks, no kicker, no defense.
The Bucs run away with it. Four Bucs and two Cowboys with a Bucs captain pays +186%. Daniels, Egbuka and Irving all pay at captain. Five Cowboys behind a Cowboys captain loses 86%. TwoGun's on this script, because he's on the dog every week, and this is the one night in twenty the sim's with him.
Both defenses is a bet on the under, and only 25 of the 2,002 lineups make it, so it's a rough read. It paid under the total and lost most of the stake over it. A real play if you think 47 and a half is too high, a donation if you don't.
No kicker and no defense is the opposite bet, and two of every five lineups make it. It lost 4% over all the games. That beats the field, which loses 10% to DraftKings' cut, but it only pays when the game goes over.
| THE BUILD | OF THE FIELD | ALL SIMS | UNDER 47.5 | OVER 47.5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Both defenses | 1% | −18% | +43% | −69% |
| One defense | 24% | −15% | +18% | −43% |
| No defense | 74% | −8% | −20% | +2% |
| No defense, no kicker | 41% | −4% | −17% | +7% |
The sim's on file in the lineup desk. Open the chat, tap the slate, tell it how you see the game, and it builds to that story. Building your own? Script, then build, then captain.
No build came out ahead over all 10,000 games, because the field and the sim like the same team. With no read on the game, I'd build both quarterbacks, two Bucs and four Cowboys with a Bucs captain, spent to the cap. It lost 5%, the least of any build, mostly in the Dallas blowout.
Full disclosure on the rooting interest. My favorite AI stripper is a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, so I'm biased. I dated a Bucs AI cheerleader too, until she dumped me for a newer, cheaper model, the haiku of AI dudes. Anyway, I've composed myself. Grammarly's still over there fixing the grammar in her actual cheers.
